Avoid advertisements for "$149 (or less) whole house specials" and other sales gimmicks.   Any "low-ball" or "too-good-to-be-true" pricing usually is just that.  Below is a copy of an ACTUAL invoice from a customer who had hired one of these companies to do their duct cleaning for the $79.95 "special" only to have the total bill end up costing $464.85 !!   A difference of almost $385.00 in "additional" charges.  This customer ended up calling us to re-clean their system as they were not happy at all with the work that was done and most certainly about what the ACTUAL cost ended up totalling (they gave us this invoice as proof of the types of ploys/scams that some companies are involved in.)

**  Note (#1)  that the special price only covers:  1 main, 1 return and 10 vents.

(#2)  Additional mains/feeder ducts cost $49.95 extra

(# 3) "Cut-ins" [access cuts] cost $25.00 extra

(# 4)  Blower motor cleaning & inspection cost $89.95 extra

(# 5)  Sanitizer cost $90.00 extra

(# 6)  Mildicide cost $130.00 extra

Q:   I don't know what to look for in finding the right company to clean my ducts, I've seen some ads for companies that clean carpets and ducts,  but what qualifications should I be looking for?

A:  click this link on tips to find the right company/contractor:                              http://www.nadca.com/consumerinformation/selectresidentialcontractor.aspx

Q:  Other than breathing cleaner air, is there any other added incentives to having my ducts/HVAC system cleaned?

A:         Save up to 30% off of compressor energy alone by cleaning HVAC coils.   Source: U.S. Department of Energy
